Public relations publication is the practice of managing the spread of information between an individual or an organization and the public through different mediums. This requires PR publishers to coordinate and work with writers to explore their brands and create materials that grasp the audience's attention. Many tools can be used to promote an organization, so let's check them out.

1. Press Release

A press release is considered a news story written by an organization with hopes of promoting something, whether it's a product, person, or organization. However, press releases are not always used in the media. The organization will most likely prepare a press release hoping the media will use it, but there is no guarantee. Press releases are typically incorporated in the media when discussing a charity event, awards, achievements, or any new product launch. Press releases are considered more old-school but are part of the foundation of PR.

2. Sponsorships

What is a sponsorship? A sponsorship is when one pays a fee for a particular name associated with different things. These things can include a particular venue, celebrity apparel, an event, a cause, and something educational. Sponsorships can become very expensive depending on who of what you are trying to sponsor, but it does strengthen your brand and your brand image. About 2/3 of sponsorships in the United States are sports-related or entertainment related. An example of sponsorship is Micheal Jordan and Nike. When Micheal partnered up with Nike to create the Air Jordan sneakers, Nike's revenue skyrocketed. Nike continued their sponsorships with other celebrities, which kept Nike's profit increasing.

3. Product Placement

Product Placement is getting a company to include your product in a part of their tv show, movie, game, event, and commercial. As you can see, in this episode of the show Friends, Coca-cola was the product placement in the show. It is something that is supposed to be subtle and not draw attention away from the event or show. There are often hundreds of product placements in shows, movies, and events because they are subtle and not obvious. Now, people are also placing products in video games, books, and online videos. It is a great way to get publicity and increase revenue for your brand.

As this course is coming to an end, I can say that I learned more than I could've imagined. I learned more about the importance of elements of design and collateral materials. It was a concept that I never thought about before, but I realized the impact these concepts have on a particular ad or campaign. I also learned about the importance of researching your target audience. By doing this, I can create my campaign or ad focusing on the interests and likes of the target audience. Lastly, I learned more about how to explore my imagination. I thought that my mind was very limited creatively, but I was able to learn how to dig deeper and take my time on specific projects and tasks.
