What is typography? According to Britannica, typography is " the design or selection of letter forms to be organized into words and sentences to be disposed of in blocks of type as printing upon a page." Typography can be used in many different ways. It can be used in logos, advertisements and commercials, clothing, and many more. It can also be seen as an art. Sometimes emotional and personal stories are told through typography to grab the audience's attention and get the message across.

It's essential to practice typography before using it in serious situations. Here are four games that teach you a little about typography.

This game was made to help you understand and tell the difference between serif and san serif fonts. There is a difference between whether you can point it out right away or not, but this gives you a chance to compare. Serif is often used in typography, so it's important to tell the difference between serif and sans serif.

The first thing you do on Type Connection is choosing a font as your main character. After you click on a certain font, you'll choose a strategy for finding ITC Century's match. Then you'll pick another font to see if the two fonts are compatible with each other. This will take you to another page where you can see how similar the two fonts you chose are. This game is an excellent representation of how every font has a personality. Some are more girly than others, and some are more formal than others. If you are creating a campaign or typography and you researched and knew your audience, pick a font that resonates with the audience's personality.

In this game, you are given a letter in a specific font, and you choose between two options on the screen of which font you think it is. This game is fun and helps you learn more fonts other than serif and sans serif. You can keep track of your score and how many questions you get, right or wrong.

Last but not least, this game is to help you acknowledge and understand letter spacing. The goal is to distribute even space between the letters. Once you've moved the letters and clicked "next," the game will score how evenly spaced the letters are from each other and, if needed, where you should have placed them. This is called kerning. It is an important skill and concept to understand for typography.

Overall, these games will help you strengthen your typography skills and help you understand the concept of typography. Typography is critical to graphic design because it will establish a moving and powerful visual image while getting executing the message to the target audience.
